As we say good bye to 2019 and walk into 2020, we have so many wonderful memories to look back on- 2019 was quite year for us at the Paddington Family of Stores! This is part one of a two part blog about the highlight of 2019!
We started our year not knowing what adventures we would embark upon. January brought inventory and Christmas decoration break down and storage. Pam and Kelly attended their first round of Gift Shows of the year (yes, that is Christmas you see in the background!).
We celebrated Chinese New Years in early February with our annual fortune cookie promotion and a raffle to benefit Sanctuary One. Our raffle generated over $100 and with the help of the Hammond Family, the donation to Sanctuary One totaled $200.
Little did we know that March would signal the beginning of the exciting roller coaster that was 2019!
What did March bring? Our very first Paddington Bear, Judy Patterson, celebrated her 80th Birthday! Her family celebrated in Ashland, and no trip is complete without a trip to Paddington Station- we were honored to throw her a Paddington Birthday Party! March holds a special place in our hearts- not only because of Judy’s Birthday, but it is also the Hammond Family’s Paddington Anniversary. On March 22nd, almost 28 years ago, Pam drove from California to Ashland. The next day, March 23rd, Pam and Don (with 5 year old Kelly!) signed the papers for the store and rest is history!
The Paddington Family welcomed it’s newest member, Paddington Express in April! The original plan for Paddington Express was that it would reinvent itself every few months and become a totally new storefront! Our first theme was “Spring Fashion” – all the product in the store was under $30!
Mother’s Day brought our very first Giveaway Promotion! We partnered with two other downtown merchants to give one special Mom an amazing gift. (I wonder if we are going to do this again this year?!)
For June’s First Friday, we were honored to host a Pendleton Raffle to benefit the Klamath Tribes Youth Council. Pendleton generously donated a robe to raffle off, and our sales representative, Alison joined us for the evening. With the support of our customers and the community, we raised over $400. The proceeds will help the members attend a conference with other Tribal Youth in Florida. Let’s see if we can beat that number this year, and raise over $500!!!
Paddington Express welcomed the opening of their “Paddington In Wonderland” theme in June as well. We still think about that beautiful flower garland our Jill-of-all-trades, Sarah created for us!!
What did the rest of 2019 hold? Stay tuned for Part 2!
