The Hammond Women welcomed a new season of giving earlier this month. The success of our Gift of Giving initiative in our Paddington Express location over the holiday season inspired them to continue!
What is the Gift of Giving you ask?
Our Paddington Express location has been operating with the theme of “The Gift of Giving” since November. This theme began as our love letter to our community- we wanted to give back to the community around us, our country and the world we live in. Each item in Paddington Express has a give back moment, and the items that did not, we have assigned a give back to. Pam and Kelly chose six non-profits to support over the holiday season- The Family Nurturing Center, St. Vincent de Paul, The Ashland Emergency Food Bank, Jackson County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), Jackson County Foster Parent Association and Jackson County Friends of the Animal Shelter. $5 of each purchase from our “Giving Collection” – the items that did not have an assigned give back- went to five of our new non-profit partners. Our Foozy sock collection boasted a “Buy One Give One” program- with each pair of socks purchased, you chose a pair to donate to the Foster Parent Association. Finally, $5 of each Lumiella necklace purchase went to Jackson County SART. With the support of our community, we were able to raise over $6000 in raised funds and goods to donate to our our non-profit partners.
Pam and Kelly were so heartened by the success of our first Gift of Giving, they decided to do this all over again! With the help of their staff, they chose six new non-profits to support: Maslow Project, Hearts with a Mission, Sparrow Clubs, Redemption Ridge, Rogue Valley Farm to School, and the Equamore Foundation. We are continuing our support of the Jackson County Foster Parent Association with our “Buy One Give One” program, and are happy to add a second product to this program- soft and cuddly stuffed animals! Our “Blind Date with a Book” program has moved from Paddington Station to Express, and all proceeds from these blind dates go to The Friends of the Ashland Public Library!
On February 7th, we threw our first ever Gift of Giving Gala to celebrate the success of our first set of non-profit partners and to welcome our new partners through Spring of 2020. Together with the Oregon Cheese Cave (they are the best!!) and Naumes Family Vineyards (also the best!!), we celebrated with true Paddington style! Pam gave our first non-profit partners the monies raised and made a lovely speech, reminding those in attendance about the importance of giving back and who our efforts were supporting.
